The “Concordia, Law and Society” Research Group is an interdisciplinary research group whose main focus is the study of concordia and its role in the political and legal life of contemporary societies. Its members belong to the field of Philosophy of Law and include researchers from other areas of legal scholarship, as well as from Journalism and Political Science. This interdisciplinary approach makes it possible to examine concordia from a broad perspective, integrating its philosophical, legal, political and social dimensions.

The Group emerged from a line of research developed by Tomás de Domingo Pérez since 2010 on transitional justice, truth and historical memory. Its main outcome was the publication of the book "Justicia transicional, memoria histórica y crisis nacional" (Cizur Menor, Cuadernos Civitas/Aranzadi, 2012). This work highlighted the need to broaden the study of concordia in response to the growing polarisation observed in contemporary societies.

The Group seeks to contribute to the study of these issues on the basis of a solid theoretical framework concerning the relationship between politics, morality and law, reaffirming the importance of the classical concept of concordia and of the pursuit of the common good through an understanding of the history and prevailing social norms and practices of each political community.
